Chris is looking for an experienced Parliamentary Assistant, Caseworker and Intern (3 roles, flexible locations) to join his office. You will work very closely with Chris to help him represent his constituents to the highest standards in Parliament. This is an exciting opportunity to make an important contribution to a very busy office at a significant time in British politics.

 

Job Title: Parliamentary Assistant

Location: London

Salary: IPSA Pay Band 2

Length of Contract: Fixed Term

Closing date: 29 July 2022

 

Essential:

· Significant experience working with senior executives in high-pressure settings.

· Excellent written and oral communication skills.

· Proven ability to balance competing demands in a fast-paced environment.

· Extremely well organised with a very keen eye for detail.

· Strong IT skills, in particular Microsoft Outlook and Word.

 

Desirable:

· Experience with external communications including social media.

· Experience working with a wide variety of external stakeholders.

· Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Conservative Party.

 

Key responsibilities:

· Provide executive support to Chris and associated interest groups as required.

· Manage a fast-moving diary.

· Coordinate meetings with stakeholders and colleagues.

· Manage the inbox and personal emails and correspondence.

· Produce briefings for meetings and speeches.

· Assist with external communications, including updating social media and online content.

· Resource and project management.

· Take minutes and produce meeting notes.

· Efficient data and file management to ensure the office complies with the data protection legislation.

 

 

 

Job Title: Caseworker

Location: Flexible

Salary: IPSA Pay Band 1

Length of Contract: Fixed Term

Closing date: 29 July 2022

 

Essential:

• Highly organised and a can-do attitude

• Outstanding customer service

• Experience of a busy environment and multitasking

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work as part of a team and independently

 

Desirable:

• A keen interest in politics and current affairs

• Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Conservative Party

 

Key responsibilities:

· Attend occasional surgeries and other meetings to assist the Member in dealing with constituents’ issues.

· Deal with daily queries from members of the public by phone, email, letter or in person, taking the appropriate initial action to resolve, document or escalate their concerns or enquiries.

· Manage own caseload and progress of casework, ensuring all cases are logged updated with any actions taken and outstanding queries are followed up, with urgent cases reported to the Member.

· Assist with the work of other colleagues as required and communicate appropriately with internal and external contacts.

· Analyse, evaluate and interpret data to ensure the Member is accurately informed on key issues.

· Undertake research from readily available sources.

 

 

 

Job Title: Intern

Location: Flexible

Salary: IPSA Pay Band 1

Length of Contract: Fixed Term

Closing date: 29 July 2022

 

Essential:

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.

• Ability to assess and analyse large volumes of information quickly and accurately.

• Ability to prioritise own workload and work to tight deadlines under pressure.

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.

• Motivation to provide high quality service to constituents.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Microsoft Word and Outlook).

 

Desirable:

• A keen interest in politics and current affairs

• Sympathetic to the aims and values of the Conservative Party

 

Key responsibilities:

• Assisting on projects.

• Assisting with diary management.

• Assisting/learning how to manage casework.

• Attending surgeries and other meetings

• Basic administrative support.

• Assisting in appropriate research

• Assisting in drafting responses to constituents.

• Open, handle and action email, post and social media enquiries.

 

 

There may be a requirement for the role holders to work outside normal working hours and travel for work occasionally.
