On Tuesday 26th November Chris Loder, the Prospective Conservative MP for West Dorset, welcomed Secretary of State for Health and Social Care Rt Hon Matt Hancock during a visit to Sherborne’s Yeatman Hospital. While there they saw first hand The Willows ward, which recently became the first-ever ‘Hospital Ward of the Year’ for end-of-life care. The award, by the Gold Standards Framework (GSF), is a national programme to help improve care for people in their final days.
Chris Loder, who was born at The Yeatman Hospital, took the opportunity to further conversations with Health Secretary Matt Hancock about healthcare provision for Special Educational Needs (SEN) children; the challenges faced by Dorset’s Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) and the issues experienced by local unpaid carers. These are all key priorities he is championing on behalf of West Dorset families.
Later today Chris Loder attends an 'Inclusive Education Question Time' Hustings organised by Dorset Parents Campaign Group for Special Needs and Disabilities (SEND) taking place at The Prince of Wales School, Dorchester. In conversations with members of the group Chris has already committed to championing its cause in Westminster if elected on 12th December.
