Chris Loder, MP for West Dorset, has reiterated his vehement opposition to the proposal to build 4,000 homes on greenfield land to the north of Dorchester. Speaking at the event held at Dorchester’s Cornhill on Saturday 27th April, Mr Loder, who has always opposed the “Norchester”, called on voters to question the stance of council candidates in the upcoming local elections on Thursday 2nd May.
Mr Loder said: “I continue to vehemently oppose to the development north of Dorchester, which would see 4,000 homes built on greenfield land and would inflict enormous cultural and environmental damage. It’s critical that voters ask Dorset Council candidates for the upcoming local elections what their views are on this proposal.”
Alistair Chisholm, founding member of STAND and Mayor of Dorchester, said: “What is the point in living in a free country if the voices of local people are not reflected in the decisions made by their local representatives. We have to keep it in people’s mind, and we’ve got to see a link between people’s views on issues and the decisions that are made.”
